Always looking for new and exciting ways to engage alumni and raise funds for essential programs, Muhlenberg partnered with KDG to achieve an ambitious crowdfunding goal.
Set a new standard for engagement and fundraising
31% new donors gave thanks to easy social sharing links
Reusable fixed-fee platform allows for future campaign use
On-call support for the entire 24-hour campaign
Cool infographics with real-time updates kept track of the goal
Attracted 28% of donations from mobile donors
Working together with Kim Anderson, director of The Muhlenberg Fund, KDG developed a strategy to attract new donors, leverage social media, and tap into the College’s growing mobile audience.
Nothing is more important to a crowdfunding campaign than an online giving portal that is efficient and effective. Any technical issues could cost the campaign valuable donations. To ensure the donation process was smooth and accessible to donors, particularly during periods of high web traffic, The Kyle David Group was online with the College throughout the entire 24-hour campaign.
Another important aspect of this project for Muhlenberg was minimizing the cost of crowdfunding. The College’s 2013 provider had proposed a solution that would have perpetually utilized a large percentage of the funds raised. Committed to helping Muhlenberg fundraise more efficiently, The Kyle David Group worked with The Muhlenberg Fund team to develop a fixed-cost platform the College could reuse for future campaigns.
Muhlenberg College’s 2014 MuleMentum campaign was another precedent-setting success. The platform that The Kyle David Group built specifically for Muhlenberg College was intentionally designed to meet the specific needs of the strategy.
“We cannot stress enough the impact of the goodwill and community spirit that MuleMentum generated for the College,” says Kimberly Anderson, Director of Special Projects. “Reading comments from those who made gifts on MuleMentum continues to inspire us and motivate us to be even more creative and innovative next year.”
In March 2015, Muhlenberg used the same fixed-fee platform to develop a completely different, month-long crowdfunding campaign for the spring called Mule Madness. A play on March Madness, the College looked to athletic teams to help engage the donor base in a bracket-style tournament. The result? Another crowdfunding success.
Muhlenberg College’s partnership with The Kyle David Group has proven beneficial on many levels. Not only is the team strategic and responsive, the platform they built for us has the potential to be utilized for multiple crowdfunding campaigns,” says Rebekkah Brown, VP of Development and Alumni Relations.
